Being a celebrity mom comes with its own set a challenges. Not only are people picking apart every aspect of your life, there’s the added pressure of being “perfect,” especially as it appears online. But there’s one celebrity mom who continues to keep it real, despite being mom shamed, often sharing the messier side of parenting on social media: Chrissy Teigen.

The 33-year-old mom of two doesn’t seem to hold anything back from her followers, but in her recent 25 Things You Don’t Know About Me post for Us Magazine, she revealed the one rule she has when it comes to posts about her kids, Luna, 3, and Miles, 1. Teigen says that she refrains from social media posts that would potentially embarrass her children.

“I try not to post anything on social media that would embarrass my kids too badly,” she writes. “Luna’s so grossed out by people kissing in movies, so anything lovey-dovey with Mom and Dad would embarrass her.

In an interview with PopSugar earlier this year, Teigen explained why it’s important to protect her kids’ dignity online. “I don’t really post any things that the kids would be ashamed of or mad at me for posting,” she said. “I see a lot of people posting their kids’ tantrums and having super meltdowns. I don’t post that stuff just because that, to me, is like — I wouldn’t want someone to do that. You try to protect them, of course, but for the most part, aside from the kids, there is no limit.”

Her children with husband John Legend are inevitably thrown into the spotlight because of their parents’ fame. And though there’s a ton that’s out of the family’s control (like the mean comments from trolls and unsolicited advice), Teigen says she does her best not to post content her kids wouldn’t like.

Fellow celebrity moms have made similar statements due to the relentless attacks from online trolls. During a recent appearance on Ellen, Pink said that she’s done posting pictures of her children all together. After posting a picture of her son with his diaper off (and his bottom blurred out), commenters went crazy, attacking Pink for her parenting abilities.

“People went as far as saying someone should call child services because he didn’t have a diaper on and how dare I … some of the nastiest things,” the singer-songwriter said. “I cried so hard after that because I like to share my family. It’s my proudest moment. I’m prouder of my kids than anything I’ve done in my whole life.”

It’s sad that celebrity moms have to take such drastic steps on social media to keep their families safe and happy, but it’s refreshing to see them speaking up about it.
