O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree! How lovey are thy $15 million branches. Yes, you read that right. That’s the value of the “most expensive Christmas tree in the world,” which stands at a luxury hotel in the South of Spain — and it is nothing short of spectacular.

The Kempinski Hotel Bahia in Estepona claims this year’s title, beating out the current Guinness World Records holder for the world’s most expensive tree, which was in the Emirates Palace hotel in Abu Dhabi and cost around $11 million. The 5-star resort is located in Marbella, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and offers guests a true taste of luxury.

To be clear, the tree itself is not responsible for the insane price, but rather its decorations. The Kempinski Hotel Bahia with British-based haute couture designer Debbie Wingham to create the festive showstopper. Inspired by the modernist art-deco era, it features peacock feathers, baubles made from 24-carat gold, and diamond-dusted snowflakes.

The extravagant Christmas tree is also adorned with vintage perfume bottles, upcycled designer bags, and millions of dollars worth of jewels from the likes of Cartier, Chanel, and Bvlgari. Digital artist Gary James McQueen and resin artist Debra Frances Bean also assisted in creating decorations for the tree, according to the resort’s statement. Plus, there are edible arrangements on the tree, including 3D chocolate peacocks and purses.

Of course, the world’s most expensive Christmas tree wouldn’t be complete without diamonds. All ethically-sourced, it’s dripping with 3-carat pink diamonds, 4-carat sapphire stones, oval red diamonds, and black and white diamonds. But one of the flashiest decorations on the tree is a fake $1 million bill that is encrusted with gold and diamonds.

At first glance, it may look like any other Christmas tree, but up close, there is no mistaking its splendor. And although everything on the tree wasn’t drenched in diamonds, Wingham confirms it was all hand-crafted. She created a whopping 500 of them herself.

According to Wingham, the tree took hours to 11 hours to erect and decorate. She also says that it required serious patience while handling the fragile ornaments.

The world’s most expensive Christmas tree will stand in the lobby of the Kempinski through December 27. But if won’t be in Spain for the holidays, keep scrolling for an up-close look at its lavish decorations.

Traditionally I know the fairy goes on top of the tree but the lavish tree is way too tall for her to be admired so we brought her down to sit in the middle. She was made by: Sculpting the face and hands from clay and painting ( something im use to doing but usually in edible form) then the arms from wire and upper body from clay, set in a plastic cone ( much like the internal structure of any fairy thats created to sit on top of the tree) The fabric was a custom print by a digital artist I have much admiration for @garyjamesmcqueenofficial he created the print esspecially for the tree embodying the peacock colour palette but with a strong sense of his signature style Then I curated the little couture gown for her She is holding a minature @artbagartist bag which matches her outfit a treat made from resin signed with the wonderful #debrafrancesbean signature Shame you cant see the back because there are a few sparkly numbers on there but in the art biz, things change sometimes you have to think on your feet and adapt things in this case she didnt make it to be the tree topper because she wouldnt be visible enough but guys she is still the queen of the tree!!!!! Im sure you agree????? #garyjamesmcqueen #digitalart #customprint #handcrafted #moulded #sculpted #handpainted #fairy #centrepiece #resinartist #artbagartist #debbie_wingham #queenofthetree
