Jennifer Garner is the latest celebrity to jump on the bangs bandwagon. The 47-year-old actress rarely strays from her mid-length layers parted down the center, so the fresh cut is even more noteworthy. On Friday, she debuted brand new curtain bangs at the Save the Children Gala in Beverly Hills.
Keeping her signature center part and chestnut brown hair color, Garner showed up looking chic as ever with thick fringe framing her face. The rest of her hair was pulled back in a bun, letting her new bangs steal the spotlight. Garner’s new hairstyle was complemented by a sleek black gown and a diamond choker.

It’s still unclear who’s responsible for the new hairstyle, but we can venture to guess it’s the work of her hairstylist Adir Abergel, who has become known for his fringe creations. (See Charlize Theron’s baby bangs and bowl cut, for example).
And though curtain bangs are a subtler style switch — plus less commitment than blunt bangs — the change is just enough to shake up Garner’s signature look. As the name suggests, these bangs are parted down the middle and hit just at the brows, draping out toward the cheekbones. The softer take is especially flattering for people with square face shapes like Garner’s.

If these commercials were your last interactions with @savethechildren, I’m guessing it is because we work where no one else wants to go—on purpose. Where conflict, humanitarian crises, natural disasters or poverty have stacked odds against children, where gender inequality puts girls’ childhoods, lives and futures at risk, #SaveTheChildren is the first organization in and the last one to leave. . This week we celebrated 1 Billion children served in our 100 year history. ♥️ We cheered for champion for kids #BobIger, we hung on @oprah’s every word, we swooned over @jamestaylor_com, and dried our eyes for @chefwolfgangpuck, @amanichildrenschoir, #MidCitiesYouthChoir, @baby2baby @rachelzoe and the stories from Aya, Justin (Phillipines) and Estephany (El Salvador)— representing kids in our programs around the world. It was kind of major. . Thank you for the warm reception for our first ever West Coast gala, LA. Thank you for showing up, Seattle. Thanks for the swanky shindig, #JoeRoth. #investinkids #celebrate100years #haveagreatweekend!
Of course, the evening was about much more than Garner’s new look. At the event, she sang a Save the Children–themed rendition of “Do-Re-Mi” for the charity’s 100th anniversary, which she shared on her Instagram. “Where conflict, humanitarian crises, natural disasters, or poverty have stacked odds against children, where gender inequality puts girls’ childhoods, lives and futures at risk, #SaveTheChildren is the first organization in and the last one to leave,” she wrote in the caption.
And this is why the star was named People Most Beautiful Person — she is beautiful inside and out, bangs or no bangs. Though we certainly hope she commits to this new look!
