Jennifer Aniston’s hair first became iconic on Friends, where she rocked “The Rachel,” and her signature hairstyle since has remained the same: sleek and straight. But at the premiere of the new AppleTV+ series, The Morning Show, the actress gave fans a rare look at her natural hair — and it turns out that it’s curly!
Aniston stunned on the red carpet beside co-star Reese Witherspoon, keeping it classic in a black, cowl-neck dress. Her hair was clearly the statement of the evening. She kept her signature center part, but wore her hair as it naturally dries instead of going with her usual blowout.
If the word “effortless” was to manifest itself as a hairstyle, it would be this:

Aniston’s longtime hair stylist Chris McMillan (yes, the same one responsible for the iconic “Rachel” cut) shared a snap of the actress on the red carpet on his Instagram, along with some insight into his process. He explained that the glam team wanted to go with natural hair and makeup to complement “such an iconic 1952 architectural gown by the master James Galanos.”
“This was such an honor to be a part of,” McMillan wrote. “The hair is Jens [sic] natural curl and waves. Dried natural and touched up minimally with blow drying the roots for direction.” He added that he used a detangling spray, a leave-in conditioner, and a hair paste to enhance her natural texture, as well as curling iron to touch-up random pieces.
Aniston also showed off her red carpet look in a candid snap on Instagram. The shot is from behind, and really gives a good look at her tousled waves. You can see that her hair is quite long, too, hitting at about her shoulder blades.

But Aniston didn’t always have a wavy texture. She recently spoke to Glamour about how a childhood haircut resulted in the new texture. “I love my hair when it’s straight,” she told the mag. “When I was a little girl, I had really long, straight hair to my bum—below my bum, actually. And then when my mom gave me the authority to do anything I wanted with my hair, mistakenly, I cut it all off. I could never grow it back. And then when I cut it short, I discovered it was curly.”
Hopefully, she’ll keep embracing the natural look, as fans are loving the new style. “Her hair is always gorgeous but this is one of my favorite hairstyles,” one Instagram user commented on McMillan’s post. “I think that this hairstyle is my favorite of Jen’s,” added another.
