Eva Mendes just solidified herself as a bargain beauty queen. On Monday, she took to Instagram to share a selfie from the hair salon, and to everyone’s surprise, she wasn’t at one those high-end hot spots most A-listers go to. The actress revealed she was at the bargain salon Supercuts for a quick trim.
“Ok this is a terrible angle but thought you guys would like to know that yea, I stop into @supercuts every once in awhile,” Mendes captioned the post, adding “Y que?!” (That’s “so what?” in Spanish.)
The photo shows Mendes in the black Supercuts smock with her still wet from the trim, and although she has yet to reveal the finished look, it appears she got lots of layers.
Obviously, the 45-year-old superstar can afford higher-end treatments, but who doesn’t love an affordable haircut? Supercut prices start at just $16, which is a serious steal.
Fans are commending Mendes for keeping it real. “Your humbleness is endearing,” one user wrote in the comments. “Stars. They’re just like me. Lol #holla20dollahaircut,” said another.
Another fan commented that the beauty chain is “great for a trim and quick layer,” to which Mendes responded, “Totally, And great for a quick wash and dry!” (By the way, that starts at just $28!)
Mendes has been pretty open in the past about her love of bargain products, so her trip to Supercuts doesn’t come as that much of a shock. In a 2016 interview with Byrdie, Mendes spoke about her affinity for drugstore makeup and Pantene hair care products. “Although I’m no longer the face of Pantene, I still stand by the brand. It’s a really great product. I love it,” she said.
“When I was growing up, it certainly wasn’t cool to have things at a discounted price or to have something at mass level,” she added. “There was no H&M — it wasn’t cool yet — so the fact that it is now, and that people really understand that you don’t have to pay a lot for things that are quality, I think that’s really exciting.”
